KATHMANDU, July 26: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Prasad Lingden has questioned if the person who reported the gold smuggling did not name the owner of the gold. He also urged the government to form a special commission of inquiry to take up the gold case.

'The person who reported the gold smuggling did not say who the gold belongs to? Why was only the porter arrested?', he questioned while participating in the Parliament meeting on Wednesday. Chairman Lingden warned the government not to take gold smuggling for granted.

'This is not an ordinary subject. In order to bring society in the right direction, proper investigation, proper solution and the government should reach the root’, he said. Lingden said that the government is explaining the seizure of one and a half quintals of gold as an insignificant matter.

“This small quantity of gold was seized just to show it to someone. Nepal is becoming a transit point for gold smuggling. It has come to light that the gold was seized only after other countries put pressure on it," said Chairman Lingden.

“Let the government reach its roots. The names of some people have also been linked to the smuggling case. Their research should be robust. I would like to request that the investigation process be initiated," he said.
