KATHMANDU, May 18: Direct flights between Kunming (China) and Kathmandu are set to resume from May 30.
During her meeting with Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand on Wednesday, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi informed that Chinese authorities had eased the travel restrictions paving the way to resume direct flights from Kathmandu to Kunming.
Himalaya Airlines had been operating direct flights between Kathmandu and Kunming before the Chinese authorities restricted flights from Nepal in view of the COVID-19 pandemic last year.

According to the Personal Secretariat of Home Minister Khand, Ambassador Yanqi and Minister Khand discussed mutual relations between Nepal and China and exchange of cooperation between the two neighbors, according to the Personal Secretariat of Minister Khand.
Minister Khand said to the Chinese envoy that the incumbent government was working towards making a budget in the wake of recently held local level elections.
Extending gratitude to the government of China for providing 'continued' assistance to Nepal for peace, stability, development and prosperity, Minister Khand expressed confidence for continuation of the support in coming days as well.
Chinese envoy Yanqi informed that she visited various places where elections were being held on May 13 for observation and shared her happiness to see people enthusiastically taking part in the voting.
