Suke Sarki, a local farmer of Tripurasundari municipality-1,said that there will be shortage of beans this year as farmers could not harvest it on time. Sarki further said that the corn plants have already started growing as the ripe seeds were wet by the rain.

Anil Dasa, a local farmer, also added that the harvested beans have rotted because they are unable to dry them in the sun. “We harvested with much difficulty however, because of no enough sunlight, the beans started rotting”, Dasa further added.

Bishnu KC had produced three quintals of beans last year, however, this time he is not sure to harvest even 50 kilograms of beans.

The market price of local bean costs Rs.350 per kg in the village itself while it ranges from Rs.400 to Rs.500 in Nepalgunj, Surkhet and Kathmandu.

Farmers have assumed that the production of the local beans go down by 70 percent.
