DPM Khadka, CEC Thapaliya meet to discuss electoral law

Kathmandu, Aug 21: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense, Purna Bahadur Khadka, held a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya, on Monday.

Kathmandu, Aug 21: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense, Purna Bahadur Khadka, held a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya, on Monday.



During the meeting, the two discussed issues concerning the electoral laws, according to the DPM's Secretariat. They exchanged views on conducting by-elections targeting various positions that are presently vacant at province and local levels.

Currently, the Bajhang constituency 1(A) in Sudur Paschim Province remains vacant while 18 local–level positions including the chairperson of Mahabu Rural Municipality in Dailekh and vice-chair of Gaurishankar Rural Municipality in Dolakha are also vacant. The post of chief of Kailali District Coordination Committee also remains unoccupied.
