DPM Nidhi returns home wrapping up his five-day India visit

KATHMANDU, Aug 23: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bimalendra Nidhi, who has returned home after wrapping up his five-day official India visit, has said that his India visit has been ‘successful’.

KATHMANDU, Aug 23: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bimalendra Nidhi returned home on Tuesday, wrapping up his five-day official India visit. Talking to journalists at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Nidhi claimed that his India visit was successful, adding that India gave priority to his visit.



During his India visit, DPM Nidhi informed the Indian leaders that  the government is moving ahead in line with  the seven-point deal reached between the Nepali Congress and the CPN (Maoist Center) and the three-point agreement between the NC-CPN (Maoist Center) alliance and the Madhesi Morcha.  


Nidhi claimed that he did not talk about the constitution amendment saying that it is an internal issue of Nepal.

“I informed the Indian leaders about the priorities of the government of Nepal, constitution implementation, and agreements reached among the NC, CPN (Maoist Center) and Madhesi Morcha,” said Nidhi. 


Nidhi also claimed that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s India visit, Indian President’s Nepal visit and Nepal's President’s India visit were fixed during his visit.


He said that the exchange of three high-level visits between the two countries have been fixed. He, however, did not disclose the dates for these visits.


Earlier, in an interview with Nepali BBC Service, Nidhi had said the PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal would embark on a visit to India by the second week of September.


Nidhi, who  had gone to India as a special envoy of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal,  met Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, Minister for Home Affairs Rajnath Singh, BJP Chairman Amit Shah, Former Prime Minister of India Manamohan Singh, Congress I Vice Vice-President Rahul Gandhi, among others.
