Driver killed in jeep accident

KALIKOT, Oct 17: The driver of a Bolero jeep was killed in an accident at Sanni Triveni-3 Sisnegada in Kalikot under Khulalu Laifu road section of the Karnali Corridor.



Information officer of the District Police Office, Poshan Thapa, said that Sushil Shahi, 36, whose permanent address is Raskot-7, Kailali, died on the spot when the jeep (Ga 1 Ja 5795) he was driving met with an accident at 3AM on Monday night while returning from Surkhet to Humla.

The jeep fell 35 meters down the road on the bank of the Karnali River. After receiving the information about the accident at 4 AM on Tuesday, the police from the Sannigad outpost went to the spot. It is not clear how the accident happened. Police Inspector Thapa said that the accident might have happened because of the rough road. One passenger in the vehicle is safe.


Shahi, who was taking passengers from Lalighat in Kalikot to Humla yesterday afternoon, met with the accident at night, said Charit Shahi, an employee of the Lalighat counter. There is a rush of passengers going home during Dashain. He guessed that they must have come at night to reserve the jeep in the morning. Driver Shahi had been driving in the Karnali Corridor for the past seven years. A year ago, he bought his own jeep. He is survived by his parents, a son, a daughter and his wife.
