DSP Rai released on bail

KATHMANDU, Nov 15: The Special Court on Thursday ordered to release Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shyam Kumar Rai on bail.



A division bench of Judges Dwarika Man Joshi, Ratna Bahadur Bagchand, Prem Kumar Shrestha Baidya heard the case ruling that DSP Rai be released on bail equivalent to the claimed bribe he had taken from the service recipient.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had caught Rai while receiving Rs 140,000 in bribe from a service recipient a month ago.


The anti-graft body had filed a case against Rai in accordance with the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2002.  


He had demanded a television set from a service recipient promising him to settle his case.
