EC’s goal is to ensure safe voting and reliable result: CEC Thapaliya

KATHMANDU, Nov 7: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya has said that the Election Commission (EC) is preparing for the elections with the goal of safe voting, safe counting of votes and reliable results.

KATHMANDU, Nov 7: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya has said that the Election Commission (EC) is preparing for the elections with the goal of safe voting, safe counting of votes and reliable results.



Inaugurating the Joint Election Operation Center (JEOC), which started today at the Election Commission (EC) for the elections of the House of Representatives (HoR) and the provincial assemblies members to be held on November 20, CEC Thapaliya said that a mechanism to address the issues that need to be addressed immediately by thoroughly analyzing material and manpower management, security arrangements and monitoring has been developed for the preparation of the election.

Thapaliya said that the newly-established center should maintain direct and regular contact with the polling station, get information about whether the assigned staff has reached/not reached the relevant polling station, understand the ongoing voter education operation at the ward level, help in compliance with the code of conduct as needed, increase coordination with the election command cell in the district, and provide necessary coordination and support in matters such as security of ballot boxes and counting after voting.


According to the guidelines on election security and monitoring, the center was established under the leadership of the secretary of the commission, under the leadership of the joint secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, as well as the representation of first class gazette officials of all the four security agencies.
