KATHMANDU, March 16: The Election Commission (EC) has drawn the attention of the political parties not to hold meetings to decide whether to vote for a candidate or not to vote during the publicity ban period for the vice presidential election to be held on March 17.
Regarding the meeting of some political parties and related public statements regarding the candidates, the Commission has issued a press release today to draw their attention to it.
The EC has reminded through a statement that the period of prohibition of publicity is in effect from 48 hours before the polling day until the polling station is closed on the polling day to conduct the election in a clean, free, fair, credible, transparent and fear-free environment.

In a statement issued today by EC Spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Paudel, it is mentioned that during this period, no meetings, discussions, interactions, gatherings, including election campaigns, will be allowed.
Likewise, holding conferences, workshops, seminars, etc, making any kind of publicity in favor of or against any candidate, asking for votes, asking for votes through electronic media such as SMS, Facebook, Viber, making statements contrary to the code of conduct, issuing press releases, publishing and broadcasting is prohibited, the statement says.
The EC has requested the members of the Electoral College to participate in the voting and use their discretion to vote.
