KATHMANDU, Dec 24: Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokharel on Tuesday stressed the need to maintain good coordination among three tiers of government in order to ensure quality education across the country.
Addressing a program organized by Education Journalists' Group, the minister said that local bodies alone can't ensure the quality education at local levels. "Federal and provincial governments also should assist the local bodies to ensure the quality education at local levels," he said. Minister Pokharel also stressed the need to hire the required number of school teachers at local levels to ensure quality education.

Educationist Bidyanath Koirala said that local bodies are failing to ensure quality education as they are not being able to function independently. "Local bodies are not enjoying autonomy. Hence, they are not being able to bring required reforms in the education sector at local levels. The federal and provincial governments should understand this reality,"
