Eight people infected with COVID-19 at Thapathali Maternity Hospital

KATHMANDU, August 23: A total of eight people have been infected with COVID-19 at the Paropakar Maternity and Women's Hospital situated in Thapathali.



As told by the director of the hospital, Sangita Mishra, the infected include nurses, pharmacy workers, technicians and security guards, along with bank employees at the hospital.

"Two of the infected patients are in the isolation ward at Teku Hospital and the other six are staying in home isolation," she said.


According to Mishra, other hospital staff are safe with no symptoms or infection seen in them and the hospital has not halted any services. "The hospital is functioning like regularly and we have not halted any services due to the current situation," she said adding, "We have strictly directed everyone in the hospital to take proper safety precautions."


However, Mishra said that the hospital is all set to carry out the PCR tests of 16 people today. "The hospital will be carrying out PCR tests of everyone working inside the hospital who has come in contact with the infected patients," she said.
