A group painting exhibition “Emerging Light from Darkness: A Promise of Prosperity and Joy’ began on March 13 in Souvenirs Gallery Café, Kathmandu. The exhibition features painting of five artists—Krishna Manandhar, Sushma Rajbhandari, Krishna Prakash Shah, Nem Bahadur Tamang and Mukesh Shrestha—which is jointly organized by Rotary Club of Swayambhu, Sushma Art Concern and Souvenir’s Gallery Café.

Senior Comedian Haribansh Acharya inaugurated the exhibition where senior tabala player Surendra Shrestha, senior flutist Prem Rana and singer Saraswati Khatri gave a lively performance for the opening ceremony.


Addressing the program, veteran artist Haribansh Acharya said that the program was very commendable and told his secret desire to be a painter. He mentioned that when he meant to make a picture of a cow, he would make a picture of a dog. He said that the mountains here are painting in themselves. Likewise, Vice Chancellor of Nepal Academy of Fine Arts Gopal Chitrakar, President of Rotary Club Swayambhu Sharda Singh and Coordinator of Jana Sanskritik Mahasangh Khagendra Rai expressed their best wishes for the success of the program.


According to a press statement, the 60 percent of the proceeds will be given to the concerned artists while 20 percent of it will be donated to Rotary club for the welfare of children and 20 percent will go to the gallery operator.


The exhibition continues till April 13.
