Employees of local bodies in Kanchanpur take to the streets in protest

KANCHANPUR, Feb 7: Employees of local bodies in the district have come to the streets demanding permanent status to those around 6,000 employees of the bodies working on temporary or contract basis.

KANCHANPUR, Feb 7: Employees of local bodies in the district have come to the streets demanding permanent status to those around 6,000 employees of the bodies working on temporary or contract basis. 



Employees of local bodies like District Development Committee, Sub Metropolitan City, Municipalities and VDCs launched the protest by fastening black bands around their heads from Tuesday. 



Their other demands include ensuring facility and career development to the employees and prioritizing employees working on a permanent, temporary and contract basis in arranging employees and their adjustment in local bodies. 



Chairman of the local body employees association, Kanchanpur, Prem Bogati said the management of employees should base seniority, qualification and evaluation of performance. 



Likewise, those who do not opt for adjustment should be provided with an option for retirement with special facility, he said. 



"We will not withdraw protest until our demands are met," he said. 



Various local organisations like local employees association, Nepal Municipality Employee Association, Bhimdatta Municipality, Nepal Municipality Association Dodhara Chadani Municipality, Nepal Municipality Employee Association, Punarbas Municipality and VDC Employee Association voiced solidarity with the agitation.
