The program, conducted MC Supriya Maskey and Shubh Acharya, was organized by Kathmandu Jaycees in order to help develop the participants’ personality by providing them a platform to showcase their strengths and talents.

A diverse group of participants graced the talent show with their enthralling performances. From singing and cultural dance performances to reciting slam poetry and delivering speeches, the performances kept the audience entertained. Dressed in glittery and fanciful costumes, the performers thoroughly regaled the viewers with a variety of presentations.

Since its inception in 2002, the ‘Miss Teen’ pageant has been providing a platform for personality development to girls between the age group of 16-19. “The pageant not only promotes the idea of beauty but we also have various rounds which help in enhancing their personality and provide them exposure in the areas of entertainment,” said President of Kathmandu Jaycees, Deepak Bhandari.

Contestant number 13, Urbashi Pandey, who showcased her singing talent, expressed that the ‘Miss Teen’ platform had helped build her confidence in amazing ways.  Contestant number 4, Prabirti Chhetri, who delivered a speech on the importance of Yoga, conceded that beauty pageants like ‘Miss Teen Nepal’ help teen girls to overcome their fear and enhance their personality.

The platform for contestant number 14, Suman Upreti, has become a spot to unveil her hidden passion for slam poetry. “Since I grew up as a bookworm, I had forgotten to be outspoken or give voice to my thought. Participating in ‘Miss Teen’ was a completely new experience to me as it has let me find the bubbly side of my personality,” she said.

Enchanting the viewers with her energetic dance, contestant number 11, Sanju Moktan, expressed how beauty pageants had contributed to youth empowerment and motivated them to inculcate their ideas to promote the entertainment industry in Nepal.

Meanwhile, contestant number 8, Barsha Baral, flaunted her talent through a slide presentation on LGBTI. “I wanted to make an effort by talking about the LGBTI community and the challenges they face through my oratory skills,” said Baral.

Basudha Basnet Pandey, one of the audiences and Urbashi’s mother, expressed that having acknowledged her daughter had what it took to be a role model to many other girls, she had encouraged her 17-year-old to participate in the event, which as per her expectation would gather a lifetime experience for her daughter.
