REPUBLICAKATHMANDU, June 1: A month-long enrollment campaign launched by the government targeting the children of school-going age could not impress about 72,000 children across the country.The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) citing last year's data said that 88,207 children aged between 5-9 years and 313,289 children aged between 5-12 years were out of school.

Organizing a press meet at the MoEST on Friday, Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokhrel claimed that the enrollment campaign was successful.He informed that 76,657 out of 88,207 children aged between 5-9 years and 253,556 out of 313,289 children aged between 5-12 years were enrolled in the schools during the month-long campaign that started April 15.MoEST also informed that the ministry among other things approved the national framework of curriculum of school education and drafted roadmap for school education reforms, decided to remove Kathmandu-based liaison offices of the universities based outside the Valley, and prepared basic guidelines to open Yogmaya Ayurved University.
