Ex-Home Minister Madhav Ghimire laid to rest with state honor

KATHMANDU, Sept 30: A funeral ceremony of former Home Minister Madhav Prasad Ghimire, who went missing along with two other family members after his jeep plunged into the Trishuli river six days ago, was performed with state honors at Pashupati Aaryaghat on Friday.

KATHMANDU, Sept 30: A funeral ceremony of former Home Minister Madhav Prasad Ghimire, who went missing along with two  other  family members after his jeep plunged into the Trishuli river six days ago, was performed with state honor at Pashupati Aaryaghat on Friday.



 Kush (grass) in the form of human bodies was put on pyre while performing funeral rites.


Home Minister Bimelandra Nidhi, Nepal Police Chief Inspecter General Upendra Kant Aryal, political leaders, senior government officials and former goverment employees were present at the funeral ceremony.

 Chaitanya Ghimire, mother of Ghimire, was also cremated at Aryaghat today itself.


Ghimire's relative Narayan Prasad Kafle and   body guard Ram Chandra Karki died in the accident.


Madhav Prasad Ghimire and his brothers,  Mohan Ghimire and Prakash Ghimire, are still missing.


However, the driver was rescued alive.


The police are still searching for the missing  ones in the Trishuli river.
