Fake cop arrested in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, Oct 15: Police on Thursday morning arrested a 28-year-old man impersonating a Nepal Police cop and extorting businesses run at night time in several markets of the Kathmandu Valley.

KATHMANDU, Oct 15: Police on Thursday morning arrested a 28-year-old man impersonating a Nepal Police cop and extorting businesses run at night time in several markets of the Kathmandu Valley.



A special squad of police from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division arrested Govinda Khadka from Tokha Municipality and confiscated Nepal Police uniform and Walkie-Talkies, and other stuff.

Khadka, a permanent resident of Khadadevi Rural Municipality, Ramechhap district, has been extorting the night businesses in the Kathmandu Valley for the last two years.


According to police, two Walkie-talkies, Govinda Khadka written name plate, boot, whistle, motorcycle, and other important documents have been confiscated from Khadka.


The arrested has been sent to the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, for further investigation.


Police have also requested those extorted by Khadka to come in contact with the Metropolitan Police Crime Division in Baneshwar.
