Far West, APF into semifinals

ITAHARI, March 6: Far-western Region and Armed Police Force (APF) have advanced to the semifinals of the Prime Minister Cup Women’s National T20 Cricket Tournament after second consecutive wins on Sunday.

ITAHARI, March 6: Far-western Region and Armed Police Force (APF) have advanced to the semifinals of the Prime Minister Cup Women’s National T20 Cricket Tournament after second consecutive wins on Sunday.  



Far-western Region defeated Eastern Region by two wickets while APF registered 66 runs win over Western Region during their second league round matches to book their ticket in the last four.

In the first match of the day played at Nepal DVM Global Academy School ground Itahari, put to bat first after losing the toss, Central Region was bowled out for 71 runs in the 20-over match. Sita Shrestha contributed highest 17 runs for Central Region while Shanti Khatiwada added 13 runs. Far-western Region’s Rekha Rawal, Sushma Bista and Anjali Chand pocketed two wickets each.  In the run chase, opener Rekha Kunwar contributed unbeaten 15 runs as Far-western achieved the target with five balls to spare at the expenses of eight wickets. Anjali Chand contributed 13 runs and Bindu Rawal was unbeaten on 10 runs. Anjali was later declared the player-of-the-match. 


Aarati Bidari of Central Region claimed three wickets and Sushma Shrestha bagged two. 

In another match, batting first APF scored 111 runs for the loss of three wickets and bowled out Western Region for 45 runs in 14.3 overs. Opener Sita Rana Magar cracked 47 runs and Ritu Kanaujiya contributed 27 runs. Both of them remained unbeaten. Mamta Chaudhary contributed 22 runs. 


In Western Region’s run chase, Saraswati Pun became the only batswoman to reach double digit figure with 16 runs under her belt. Seven players were out for duck.


APF’s Sarita Magar and Sita Rana Magar pocketed two wickets each. Sita was declared the player-of-the-match.
