KATHMANDU, June 2: Film Development Board (FDB) has said the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2023/24 failed to well address the Nepali film industry.

FDB Chairman Bhuwan KC said their voices were not addressed by the budget. The FDB had proposed a budget for it after consultations with experts and organizations concerned.

Speaking at a press meeting organized in the capital on Thursday, KC said their voices were not heard. The concept of establishing studios for the promotion of Nepali films is  positive, but the decision to impose just one percent tax on imports of foreign movies instead of the proposal for five percent is concerning, he said.
