Chitwan, Nov 2: Five persons died from scrub typhus, dengue and chikungunya in a month (October 18-November 16) in Chitwan.



Likewise, nine people succumbed to these diseases in the past four months of the current fiscal year in the district. Of them, two were from the district itself while remaining others were outside from the district that had been here in course of treatment.

According to the District Public Health Office Chitwan's chief, Bijay Kumar Jha, one boy, four girls and four women died from these diseases in course of treatment in the district-based health facilities.


Two were found infected with scrub typhus while two were diagnosed with chikungunya, three were suffering from both scrub typhus and chikungunya and one was diagnosed with both scrub typhus and dengue. In the past four months, 355 were tested positive for the scrub typhus. Likewise, the number of people diagnosed with dengue in this period is 51. RSS
