SALYAN, May 12: The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Karnali Province's Executive Committee meeting has concluded issuing a 10-point Salyan Declaration Paper.

At the first meeting held at Khairawang temple – a tourist destination in Salyan – the committee has expressed concern over the proposal to abolish Working Journalist Act 2051 in a draft proposal for media law and called for creation of a press-friendly environment with full implementation of the Act in all laws to be formulated by the state.

The Committee has also demanded budget allocation for establishment of Mass Communications Academy in Karnali Province. It has further urged all the media organizations based within the province to lend support for the success of Karnali Rara Tourism Year declared by Karnali's provincial government.

In the declaration paper, the FNJ's Karnali Executive Committee has appealed to the concerned authorities to establish Khairawang temple, Kupindetaal and Chatreshwori temple as the province's prime tourist destinations. It has also pressed for carving out a master plan for conservation of the cultural, religious and natural heritages along with the development of Salyan's tourist destinations.

The meeting also demanded upgrading the Khalanga – Baluwa – Sangrahi route that connects Karnali's provincial capital and the road linking Kapurkot – Kalche – Kalimati and Bhotechaur along with all roads linked with the district headquarters, said FNJ Karnali Province's General Secretary, Dipendra Sharma.
