Fog in southern plains affects domestic flights

KATHMANDU, Jan 18: Domestic flights operated from Tribhuvan International Airport were affected due to thick fog in various parts of southern plains Thursday.

KATHMANDU, Jan 18: Domestic flights operated from Tribhuvan International Airport were affected due to thick fog in various parts of southern plains Thursday. 



TIA Spokesperson Prem Nath Thakur informed that the flights to and from Bhadrapur, Biratnagar, Janakpur cities were affected by the fog. 

Similarly, the flights to Simara, Bhairahawa, and Dhangadhi have been disrupted time and again.

With this, the schedule of the business people traveling to many places has been disturbed. 


The uncertainty and long wait for better visibility have forced many to opt for road transportation. However, the sorry state of Narayangadh-Mugling, the major entry road to Kathmandu Valley has added further woes to them.


Nearly 5,000 people travel through domestic flights every day. There are 18 aviation companies including helicopters for the domestic flights. 


However, the international flights are regular. A total of 30 companies are conducting the international flights in Nepal. RSS
