Folks in Sindhupalchowk elated after Nepal China agree on Miteri Bridge reconstruction

KATHMANDU, June 22: With the agreement between Nepal and China for the reconstruction of Miteri Bridge with an aim to resume the Tatopani border point, the industrialists, entrepreneurs and stakeholders have expressed their pleasure, cheering the decision.

KATHMANDU, June 22: With the agreement between Nepal and China for the reconstruction of Miteri Bridge with an aim to resume the Tatopani border point, the industrialists, entrepreneurs and stakeholders have expressed their pleasure, cheering the decision. 



During Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's visit to China, the two sides agreed to the reconstruction of the Miteri Bridge of Tatopani. 


The locals are pleased to learn about the reopening of the Tatopani border that was closed after the 'Gorkha Earthquake' and the construction of the Miteri bridge in Sindhupalchowk district. China had closed the Tatopani border point citing insecurity after the earthquake.

The government of Nepal has lost a good amount of revenue, cutting a large number of employments after the closure of the Tatopani border point, the short and accessible route to link Nepal to China. 


Lawmaker of Sindhupalchowk-1 and leader of CPN Agni Prasad Sapkota said that his team's long efforts for the opening of the border and construction of Miteri Bridge resulted in success and lauded the agreement. "The repeated political and diplomatic efforts made to reopen the Tatopani border have achieved success. The PM's role made to reopen the border point is positive," Sapkota said. 


Leader Sapkota also urged the government to pay attention for the expansion and repair of the Araniko Highway. A delegation led by leader Sapkota had drawn attention of the Prime Minister to take initiative to open the border point. 


Similarly, CPN leader from Sindhupalchowk Madhav Sapkota shared that happiness has prevailed in the district after the agreement to open the border point and construct the Miteri Bridge. 

Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality's Chairman Raj Kumar Poudel said it was a welcome agreement that the Miteri Bridge would be reconstructed. "Although we were sad for not having the blocked border resumed for three years, now we are hopeful," he added, saying time had come to repair the road above Bahrabise. 


Communist Party Nepal's leaders Amrit Kumar Bohara, Sapkota and Sher Bahadur Tamang, also the minister for Law, had been making efforts to resume the Tatopani broder. 


Meanwhile, first Vice-Chairman of Sindhupalchowk Chapter of FNCCI, Shyam Krishna Shrestha, expressed happiness over the atmosphere being prepared to resume the Tatopani border point and reconstruct the Miteri Bridge. 


"With the resumption of border, I hope the business activities would thrive again," he observed. 

Even Nepal Himalaya Trans-border Entrepreneurs' Association has responded that it has become happy to read the news that the border would be reopened.
