Former police constable arrested for looting ballot box

RAUTAHAT, May 20: Rautahat police have arrested a person involved in running away with the ballot boxes after a dispute broke out during the local level election at Jethahariya polling station of Yamunamai village in Rautahat district on May 13.

RAUTAHAT, May 20: Rautahat police have arrested a person involved in running away with the ballot boxes after a dispute broke out during the local level election at Jethahariya polling station of Yamunamai village in Rautahat district on May 13.



The person has been identified as Chandeshwor Baitha, 46, of Yamunamai Rural Municipality-2. He is a former police constable and has spent time in jail for his involvement in smuggling at the airport. The police arrested Baitha from his house where he had been hiding

According to the District Police Office, Rautahat, Baitha has been presented before the Rautahat District Court for legal action under the Election Offenses and Punishment Act 2016. Further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
