Fraud who swindled traders out of Rs 78 million arrested in Bhaktapur

KATHMANDU, July 17: The Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD) of Nepal Police on Thursday arrested a fugitive on fraud charges from Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-3 in Bhaktapur district.



A team of police from the MPCD arrested 29-year-old Chandan Jindal of Jhapa district on the charge of defrauding over Rs 78 million from 22 people of four different districts.

According to police, Jindal presented himself as Manish Agrawal in four districts – Jhapa, Bara, Parsa and Sarlahi – to defraud traders and businesses. "The alleged fraudster purchased food stuffs on credit from traders in four different districts. He then sold the food stuff in Kathmandu at a cheaper price than the market rate in Kathmandu," said Superintendent of Police Ishwor Karki, who is also the spokesperson for the MPCD.


The arrested has been sent to the District Police Office, Bara, for further investigation into the case.
