BIRATNAGAR, Feb 7: Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Loktantrik) Chairman Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar today sounded a doubt over the possibility of extension of Parliament tenure in case of the failure to hold the elections within the stipulated deadline.

Talking to media-persons in Biratnagar, he offered an option to avert such situation by holding the local polls within the last week of May and parliament election within the third week of November after passing the constitution amendment proposal with revision of its some provisions.

He also emphasized the need for consent from the main opposition CPN-UML in endorsing the proposal.

Saying that there was no alternative for all three main political parties to striking consensus to safeguard the constitution, he stressed the need for going for parliament elections directly even if local body elections could not take place on time.

Claiming that elections, if held without constitution amendment, could not become peaceful and fair, he reiterated that his party would also not participate under these circumstances. RSS
