KATHMANDU, July 21:  Nepali Congress (NC) leader Gagan Thapa on Thursday registered a motion of a public importance at the parliament to discuss the demands raised by Dr Govinda KC.

NC leader Thapa came up with the motion at the time when preparations are underway to bring the no-confidence motion into a discussion at the House.

NC lawmaker Dhanraj Gurung and CPN (Maoist Center) lawmaker Shyam Shrestha have seconded the proposal.

“The parliament is a body to discuss about, monitor and surveil the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA). We discuss even about a news printed in a newspaper. Isn’t it our responsibility to discuss about the constitutional bodies and bring out the truth?”, read the motion.

A similar application has been filed at the Good Governance and Monitoring Committee of the parliament.

Dr Govinda KC, a senior orthopedic surgeon at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), is on a hunger strike since 12 days with various demands that includes impeachment of CIAA Chief Lokman Singh Karki.
