Gandaki reports decline in road accidents

POKHARA, Jan 30: The Gandaki Province Traffic Police Office reported a slight decrease in traffic accidents in the province, with a three percent decrease in vehicle accidents in 2021/22 compared to 2020/21.

POKHARA, Jan 30: The Gandaki Province Traffic Police Office reported a slight decrease in traffic accidents in the province, with a three percent decrease in vehicle accidents in 2021/22 compared to 2020/21.



According to the provincial traffic office, there were 415 vehicle accidents in Gandaki province from January 14, 2021 to the end of December 2021. However, from January 14, 2022 to the end of December 2022, only 402 vehicle accidents took place, according to the Provincial Traffic Office.

According to the traffic police, the number of deaths due to accidents has also decreased with the decrease in accidents. According to the provincial traffic office, the number of deaths due to road accidents this year has decreased by 15 percent compared to the previous year.


The number of seriously injured people in accidents has increased by 39 percent this year compared to the previous year. Last year 274 people were seriously injured in road accidents. This year 381 people were seriously injured. Likewise, the number of general injuries decreased by nine percent. According to the provincial traffic office, 245 people were injured this year while 270 people were injured in the previous year.


The Gandaki Traffic Police Office has collected 69 percent more revenue this year compared to the previous year. Gandaki Province Traffic Office collected Rs 87.2 million from last year when 1, 33,864 vehicles were punished, this year they collected Rs 164.43 million, from 2, 25,563 vehicles.


The provincial traffic office said that the number of accidents and the number of deaths have decreased due to the activity of the traffic police. State Traffic Office organizes road safety tips, road safety corner campaign, Namaste campaign, and one minute program with drivers, school awareness program, setting up and training of passenger help desk, interactive program, artificial road accident rescue and management simulation, flashing stickers at the time of anger and at night.
