KMC resumes garbage collection in capital

KATHMANDU, July 1:  Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has started to collect garbage around the Kathmandu Valley, from Monday morning.

KATHMANDU, July 1: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has resumed collection of garbage from Monday morning.



The collection of garbage has taken momentum, said Hari Kumar Shrestha, chief of the Environment Management Department of the KMC.

People have been suffering from the stink of a huge pile of waste scattered in every corner of the capital city for the last five days.


Shrestha added that KMC will manage garbage properly at the earliest.


As locals took to the street to demand compensation from the government for the problem caused by the poor garbage management, KMD had difficulty throwing garbage in the landfill site.
