BIRGUNJ, Dec 22: Preliminary investigation has blamed negligence on the part of the Super Gas Industry for the massive fire in the Birgunj-based gas bottling plant on Wednesday in which two people were killed.
A group including Pradeep Yadav, the parliamentarian elected from Parsa constituency-1, made a field visit to the accident site on Thursday. “We found that the incident took place due to the negligence and weakness of the bottling plant. However, we are not experts to prove it,” said Yadav.
According to him, a high-level government team including experts should visit the incident site for investigation. “Our message is that we should learn from the incident so that it is not repeated in the future.”

Province assembly member Janata Onsari and District Coordination Committee chief Nek Mohammad were also part of the group. Following the monitoring, Yadav visited Parsa Chief District Officer Binod Prakash Singh and instructed him to take initiatives for the formation of a high-level team to investigate the incident.
Two firefighters, Yadav Adhikari and Madhusudhan Mishra, were burnt to death while three others were severely injured while trying to douse the massive fire at the Buhabari-based Super Gas Industry on Wednesday morning.
Police have handed over the dead bodies of the victims to their families after post-mortems.
Parliamentarian Yadav also declared to provide Rs 100,000 each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
It is learned that the employees of the gas bottling plant had run for their lives instead of trying to bring the fire under control. The team led by Yadav suspects that the employees lacked knowledge and training in facing such a situation.
