KATHMANDU, August 25: Niranjan Kumar Jha, the general manager of Nepal Railway Company, has complained that the Ministry of Finance has not cooperated in operating the train.

He complained that although the Ministry of Finance decided to give the money required for the contract with the Indian KRCL company, the money for the contract was not given. He said that the ministry ignored the decision made by the Council of Ministers on February 16, 2021.

He said that the ministry did not provide funds for the train operation ever since he became the general manager of the company. He alleges that the ministry would give money to the former general manager, but after his arrival, the money was not disbursed due to prejudice.

Jha claimed that if he can operate one passenger train and one cargo train, he will make the railway company profitable. He said that the regular work of the company is being affected as the Ministry of Finance has not provided a budget for railway operations.

Jha said that with the Janakpur Jayanagar train in operation, there has been an increase in domestic tourists in Janakpur as well. He said that there has been an increase in the number of Indian tourists since Janakpur can be reached by train directly from India and Pokhara and Kathmandu by air directly from India.

Jha said that a train named Bharatiya Gorakh will come to Janakpur next Saturday with Indian tourists.
