Global Youth Peace Conference -2018 kicks off

KATHMANDU, Jan 13: The Global Youth Peace Conference-2018, organized with the objective of deliberating on the common issues of the youth throughout the world, kicked off in the capital on Saturday.

KATHMANDU, Jan 13: The Global Youth Peace Conference-2018, organized with the objective of deliberating on the common issues of the youth throughout the world, kicked off in the capital on Saturday. 



One hundred thirty youth activists from 33 countries including Nepal, America, Canada, Australia, Ethiopia, Uganda and Japan are participating in the conference organised by the Youth Parliament Nepal.

Inaugurating the conference, former chairman of the Interim Council of Ministers, Khil Raj Regmi said sustainable development, democratic rule, equality and a just society should be the issues of concern of the youth. 


Coordinator of the Youth Parliament Nepal, Diwakar Aryal said discussions would be held in the conference on topics as climate change, democracy and good governance, social entrepreneurship, youth participation and cultural diplomacy for peace, among others. 


Film star Rajesh Hamal, CNN Superhero Pushpa Basnet, AP1 Television's News Chief, Tikaram Yatri, peace campaigner Pitambar Bhandari, young scientist Jitendra Upadhyay, and youth campaigners Sulochana Sigdel, Basu Gautam and Hikmat Thapa were presented with the 'Youth Motivation Honour-2018' on the occasion. 


The conference will conclude on Sunday by issuing the Kathmandu Declaration. RSS
