Gorkha Boys into Nepal Ice final

KATHMANDU, May 9: Gorkha Boys Club of Rupandehi has advanced into the final of the ongoing Fourth Nepal Ice Sindhu Cup Football Tournament defeating departmental team Armed Police Force (APF) Club 4-3 in Sindhupalchowk on Wednesday.

KATHMANDU, May 9: Gorkha Boys Club of Rupandehi has advanced into the final of the ongoing Fourth Nepal Ice Sindhu Cup Football Tournament defeating departmental team Armed Police Force (APF) Club 4-3 in Sindhupalchowk on Wednesday.



In the first semifinal at the Basantapur Ground in Lamosanghu, the game headed into extra time and then to penalties after the teams failed to score a goal.

Gorkha will now take on the winner of the host Youth Sports Club and Jawalakhel Youth Club. The second semifinal is scheduled to be played on Thursday. In the penalties, APF’s Rabi Thing and keeper Amrit Chaudhary missed, while Ram Kumar Kumal, Hari Karki and Pradeep Lama scored.


Likewise, Rupesh KC, Uttam Gurung, Bharat Shah and Sakal Regmi scored for Gorkha. Both the teams created chances after chances, but could not convert them. Rupandehi’s Sushil Yadav hit a shot in the eighth minute, but the ball went over the bar, while KC hit a shot from inside the danger area, but the ball hit the post. APF’s Thing hit a free-kick in the 31st minute, but the ball grazed over the bar. KC was named the man of the match and was rewarded with Rs 5,000.


The winner of the tournament will take home a cash prize of Rs 500,000, while the runner-up will be rewarded with Rs 250,000.
