Govt bans use of foreign artists’ images in advertising

KATHMANDU, Sept 25: The government has issued a directive prohibiting the use of images of foreign artists on hoarding boards or other promotional materials.



The Advertisement Board has released a notice mandating the exclusive use of photographs featuring local artists or individuals for advertising on hoarding boards, vehicles, or any other medium.


As per Sub-rule (3) of Rule 9 (a) of the Advertisement Regulations (First Amendment) 2023, it is stipulated that the use of photographs featuring foreign artists or individuals is not permitted.


The board has directed advertisers, advertising agencies, and media to promptly remove any such photos if they have been used and to ensure compliance with the specified rules.
