'Govt should be more responsible to make constitution acceptable'

KATHMANDU, Sept. 18: Lawmaker of Nepali Congress (NC) Pradip Giri has said it was the government's main responsibility to ensure broader acceptability of the constitution.

KATHMANDU, Sept. 18: Lawmaker of Nepali Congress (NC) Pradip Giri has said it was the government's main responsibility to ensure broader acceptability of the constitution. 



Speaking at the special hour of the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting on Tuesday, he said NC does not support reactionary and conspiratorial forces even when the party is in opposition. "NC supports the government in time of necessity and always backs the truth," he added.

Giri asked the government to immediately nab the culprits involved in the murder of Nirmala Panta of Kanchanpur district and drew attention of the bodies concerned about the increased cases of violence and rape in the society. 


During the meeting, lawmaker of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Khagaraj Adhikari said that the culprits of the serious crime could not be spared. The current government got achievement to develop extraordinary relations with the neighbouring countries by strengthening democracy and the country, he argued. 


Adhikari praised the government for collecting good amount of revenue and also drafting the laws on fundamental rights within three years of the promulgation of the constitution. 


Likewise, lawmaker Rajendra Lingden demanded that a parliamentary committee be formed claiming that billions of rupees would was embezzled in the procurement of the wide-body aircraft for the national flag carrier, Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC).
