Govt spent only 5 percent of capital expenditure, failed to meet revenue collection target in the Q1 of current FY

KATHMANDU, OCT 18: The government spent only 5.17 percent of the capital expenditure in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, which ended on Monday.

KATHMANDU, OCT 18: The government spent only 5.17 percent of the capital expenditure in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, which ended on Monday.



According to the Financial Comptroller General Office, the government spent a low amount on development projects in the first three months of 2022/23. A total of Rs 380.38 billion has been allocated under the heading for this fiscal year.

The government also failed to meet its revenue collection target during the review period. The revenue collection was Rs 208 billion, which was 18.65 percent less compared to the government’s target. The government has targeted to collect revenue worth Rs 1.403 trillion for the current fiscal year.
