Govt talks team meets Dr KC, assures him of addressing his demands

KATHMANDU, Nov 26: The government talks team on Saturday met Dr Govinda KC, a senior orthopedic surgeon at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), regarding his demands.



The government team told Dr KC, who is on a hunger strike with different demands, that the government was serious and committed to address his demands.



Dr KC in return said that he was not in the condition to hold talks, adding that he will form talks committee soon. He said that the committee will be formed after discussing with Dr Anjani Kumar Jha, Dr Jiwan Kshetry among others.



Earlier today, the government had formed a two-member committee comprising Health Secretary Senendra Raj Upreti and Education Secretary Shanta Bahadur Shrestha to hold talks with Dr KC.



Dr KC, a senior professor at the Institute of Medicine (IoM), is on a prolonged hunger strike since last 14 days putting forth six-point demands including appointment of dean at IoM on the basis of seniority.
