Health Ministry sets new standards for appointment

KATHMANDU, Dec 2: The Ministry of Health has approved new rules to appoint officials in its public bodies such as hospital development committee, academy, and council among others.

KATHMANDU, Dec 2: The Ministry of Health has approved new rules to appoint officials in its public bodies such as hospital development committee, academy, and council among others.



The ministry approved the rules proposed by Health Minister Gagan Thapa in a bid to manage and make the appointment and nomination effective, said Pratap Paudel, chief advisor to the health minister.



As per the new rules, the chairperson of the district hospital should have at least Bachelor's Degree, while the chairperson of chairperson of zonal, regional and central hospitals need Master's Degree. The candidate for the chairperson should sign a contract letter with plans and vision to develop the hospitals. The contract will be signed within 30 days of appointment or nomination.



The contract agreement would include hospital's pharmacy operation, crowd management, operation of OPD services till 5 pm, effective management of hospital funds and other improvements.



A candidate with conflict of interests will be disqualified for appointment or nomination. Any person will be restricted to get dual appointments or facilities, according to the approved standards.
