Police surveillance expanded to 90 locations in Kathmandu
KATHMANDU, March 24: On the occasion of Fagu Purnima or Holi, the festival of colors, programs are underway at 10 locations throughout the Kathmandu Valley. These events have been organized with official permission from the local authorities.
Security beefed up in the capital in view of the Holi festival
The programs have been organized on the road in front of Sanchaya Kosh Bhawan in Thamel, Durbar Marg, Basantpur, Bhrikutimandap, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Surya Binayak and Jawalakhel. A concert has also been organized in Chabahil.
Holi celebration programs have been organized at Hyatt Hotel in Bauddha, Times Square Hotel in Baluwatar and Amrapali Banquet. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bhupendra Khatri of District Police Range, Kathmandu said that a specified number of security personnel have been mobilized for the security of the venues.
SSP Khatri said, "Since there is surge in traffic, we will be employing drone surveillance to enhance security measures at event locations. To bolster security efforts, the Valley Traffic Police Office and District Police Range Kathmandu have established checkpoints at 90 strategic locations across the Kathmandu district. SSP Khatri further noted the deployment of police units including CRV, QRT, and patrol teams to maintain orderliness and manage any potential disturbances.”
