Home Minister Khand directs security agencies to leave no stone unturned to ensure fair election

KATHMANDU, April 30: The Ministry of Home Affairs has held a meeting today to discuss the security challenges regarding the upcoming local level polls slated for May 13.

KATHMANDU, April 30: The Ministry of Home Affairs has held a meeting today to discuss the security challenges regarding the upcoming local level polls slated for May 13. 



The meeting was chaired by Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand and discussed the challenges and measures that can be taken to conduct the election in a free and fair manner.


A virtual presentation was made at the meeting. After hearing the province-wise presentation, Home Minister Khan directed the bodies concerned to conduct the election free and fair manner making best use of available resources.

Giving instructions to the officials and members of the Central, province and district level Security Committees at the meeting, Minister Khand urged them to leave no stone unturned to ensure security to conduct the election in a free and fair manner. The government has recruited 100,000 temporary police personnel targeting the election.


MoHA Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey directed officials concerned to work accordingly as security and fairness of the election is the main goal of the government. Pandey said that the ministry expects all district officials and security committee officials to do exemplary work in this regard. 


Lieutenant General of Nepal Army Bal Krishna Karki, Inspector General of Nepal Police Shailesh Thapa, Inspector General of Armed Police Force Pushparam KC and Chief of National Investigation Department Yadulal Kharel were among those present at the meeting.


The meeting was also attended by district security committee officials and the chief of the state security agencies through virtual media.
