MYAGDI, Jan 1: Hotels in Mustang that were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic have reopened after nine months. The fear of COVID-19 had led to the closure of hotels in the district since March.
Tourism entrepreneurs had been criticizing the closure of hotels and banning the movement of all kinds of tourists to the religious and tourist sites in Mustang. The hotels and restaurants around the area are being reopened at the initiative of businessmen from Myagdi and Mustang.
Other hoteliers in Myagdi, Baglung and Parbat in Dhaulagiri were also affected when the hotels in Mustang were closed. Stating that the entrepreneurs of Myagdi, Parbat and Baglung were also affected by the closure of hotels in Mustang, Hotel Entrepreneurs’ Association, Myagdi had submitted a memorandum to the District Administration Office.

Khagendra Tulachan, president of Mustang Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that it has been decided to operate the hotels regularly following the public health standards.
“We have requested all to follow the public health standards. There is no problem in entering Mustang,” said Tulachan. Earlier, hoteliers of Mustang had said that they would open the hotel only from February 13. The entrepreneurs of Myagdi had coordinated through the DAO to reopen their services.
Tara Prasad Acharya, president of Hotel Entrepreneurs’ Association, Myagdi, said, “Even if it is the off-season for tourists, it is going to help our business to some extent.” He focused on the need to create a pleasing environment for tourists willing to visit the Muktinath Temple. Most of the hotels along the Beni-Jomsom road section are heavily dependent on domestic and foreign tourists, who travel to Mustang.
