KATHMANDU, Oct 1: Cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane, who is accused of raping a minor girl, has announced that he will arrive home on October 6 and submit himself to police.



In a post on his Facebook page on Saturday, Lamichhane said that he will submit himself to the authority of Nepal to fight a legal battle against the false allegations. “With great hope and strength, I hereby announce that I am reaching my home country, Nepal, on October 6, 2022 and will submit myself to the authority of Nepal to fight a legal battle against the false allegation,” he wrote.

Lamichhane reiterated that he is innocent and he has unflinching faith in Nepal’s justice system. He said, “I firmly believe over all the law enforcement authorities and respected courts on their fair trial and adjudication. I am hopeful to get justice at the earliest.”


Earlier, a minor girl had filed a complaint against Lamichhane accusing him of rape. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has also suspended him from the national squad following the issuance of an arrest warrant against him. Interpol has issued a diffusion notice against Lamichhane at the request of Nepal Police.
