RAUTAHAT, Nov 21: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Ram Chandra Poudel on Sunday said that impeachment motion against CIAA chief Lokman Singh Karki was raised in the parliament to overshadow national agendas.

Stating that the impeachment motion was registered in the parliament by CPN (Maoist Center) and CPN-UML without consulting the NC, Poudel said his party would now play a role to deliver justice.

“The importance and necessity of impeachment would have been justified if it had been tabled after having consultation with the Nepali Congress. But that did not happen,” said Poudel, speaking with journalists in Gaur.

Poudel argued that the Maoists and UML leaders were chasing an individual putting aside other important issues. He said the Nepali Congress will not get involved in 'dirty politics' but will focus on issues that would benefit the country.  Without elaborating whether his party would support impeachment motion or not, Poudel said that the CIAA should not be weakened.

On a different note, he said that the party was ready to discuss about the dissatisfaction of indigenous nationalities and minorities regarding the constitution.
