KATHMANDU, April 6: A large number of pilgrims wishing to take bath at the 22 stone spouts at Balaju, Kathmandu have reached there on the occasion of Baisdhara Mela on Thursday.

KATHMANDU, April 6: A large number of pilgrims wishing to take bath at the 22 stone spouts at Balaju, Kathmandu have reached there on the occasion of Baisdhara Mela on Thursday.

It is believed that taking a bath at the stone spouts on this auspicious day provides the bather protection from various illnesses. People also have a belief that after bathing in the stone spouts, happiness will be achieved, family prosperity will be maintained and virtue will be obtained in their life.


King Jaya Praksash Malla in 1736 AD had constructed 21 stone spouts here and the 22nd was added by Shah King Rana Bahadur Shah.
