KATHMANDU, August 19:India has offered NRs 400 million in cash and kind as relief for the victims of recent floods and landslides triggered by incessant monsoon rainfall.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked to his Nepali counterpart Sher Bahadur Deuba on Friday evening and announced the assistance. Modi had expressed his deepest condolences and sympathies to the flood victims and survivors.

Prime Minister Deuba tweeted that he felt honored to have received a telephone call from Prime Minister Modi.
“My sincere thanks to Shri Modi jee’s for his deepest condolences and sympathies to flood victims and survivors in Nepal. Also, my gratitude for Shri Modi jee for his generous pledge of INR 250 million in cash and in-kind for flood relief,” he said.
Earlier, China had announced to provide US $ 1 million for the immediate relief of flood victims in various parts of the country.
Visiting Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang announced the cash amount as emergency humanitarian assistance from the Chinese government to the Nepalese government. During the bilateral meeting between the two countries, Vice Premier Wang also expressed condolence and sympathies to the victims of the recent natural disasters in Nepal.
