India records fourth death due to coronavirus, halts international passenger aircraft to land for one week from March 22

NEW DELHI, March 19: India has recorded its fourth death due to coronavirus, the Health Ministry of India confirmed on Thursday.



The deceased was from the Indian State of Punjab, according to Indian Express Online. The number of coronavirus cases in India spiked to 173.

Meanwhile, the Indian government has ordered no scheduled international commercial passenger aircraft shall be allowed to land in India from March 22 for one week.


Likewise, it has asked the state governments to issue directions that citizens above the age of 65 and children below the age of 10 remain indoors, according to media reports.


The number of positive cases in India jumped to 173 on Thursday. A first positive case was reported in Chhattisgarh. Fresh cases were reported in Indian states of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka as well.
