Insurance coverage needs to be expanded to grassroots: DPM

KATHMANDU, Feb 23: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Ishwar Pokharel has urged the Rastriya Beema Sansthan to expand the coverage of insurance to the grassroots level. 



Addressing the 52nd anniversary of the Corporation here today, he said the Corporation has had an important role in the development, expansion and consolidation of the insurance sector and called for its focus on institutionalizing the achievements so far and bringing timely changes to service delivery. "It now needs to prove itself by focusing on development and adoption of modern technology, organizational restructuring and service delivery," he said.

Revenue Secretary Lal Shanker Ghimire suggested the corporation to provide quality and sustainable services to the general public. 


Chairperson of Bima Samiti Chiranjibi Chapagain called for proper management of staff, skills development and adoption of information technology to make the organization competitive in the market. 


According to information shared at the program, the Corporation has provided life insurance coverage to 298,000 people with around 300,000 civil servants enjoying the endowment life insurance coverage. The corporation has also been making investment in hydropower projects and other long-term development projects. RSS
