Jailed for destroying banana farm

RATNANAGAR, July 7: A man arrested on the charge of destroying a banana farm in Jutpani of Kalika municipality-6 has been sent to jail. 



Arjun Kumar Dallakoti,21, of the same locality had been absconding since a case of public offense had been filed against him. He was arrested and sent to jail on Friday, after he failed to deposit a bond of Rs. 250,000 before the District Court, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Shiva Sharma Acharya.

Dallakoti was part of a group that destroyed the banana farm in the incident that took place on April 30. The group chopped off 3,094 banana trees, causing a loss of more than 1.5 million rupees to 12 farmers. 


Five others arrested earlier have also been jailed after failing to deposit the bail amount. One more accused is still at large and a search has been initiated to nab him, DSP Acharya said.
