Joint bench for Dr KC’s case

KATHMANDU, Jan 9: A joint session bench of Justices Om Prakash Mishra and Kedar Prasad Chalise will hear the case of contempt of court against senior orthopedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC.

KATHMANDU, Jan 9: A joint session bench of Justices Om Prakash Mishra and Kedar Prasad Chalise will hear the case of contempt of court against senior orthopedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC.



Advocates Krishna Prasad Bhandari, Om Prakash Aryal, Babu Ram Giri, Dinesh Tripathia and Surendra Tripathi will defend for Dr KC whereas Raman Shrestha, Upendra Keshari Neupane and Shyam Prasad Kharel will plead for plaintiffs.


The SC will record the statement of Dr KC before the start of the hearing on Tuesday.

Dr KC was presented before the apex court on Tuesday morning who was taken into detention on Monday evening just a few hours after starting a hunger strike and is facing the charge of contempt of court.


Dr Kc was taken in an ambulance belonging to Nepal Police from Metropolitan Police Circle Office, Singha Durbar, where he was kept overnight in custody. 


Following the order of the apex court on Monday itself, the Home Ministry and the Nepal Police held Dr KC from the premises of Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, where he had started a hunger strike demanding the resignation of Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli among others.


Earlier, supporters of Dr KC including former Prime Minister Babu Ram Bhattarai, former Health Minister Gagan Thapa, leader Rabindra Mishra among others staged a protest at Maitighar against the arrest of Dr KC.
