Jumla reports 39 new cases of coronavirus

JUMLA, Sept 2: At least 39 persons tested positive for novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Jumla, officials said on Wednesday.



New coronavirus infections were recorded during PCR tests conduct at the Karnali Institute of Health Sciences (KIHS), according to director of the KIHS Mangal Rawal.

According to Rawal, 16 persons from Chandannath Municipality were diagnosed with COVID-19. Likewise, 10 jailbirds in Jumla jail and four employees in Nepal Electricity Authority, Jumla branch have been infected with coronavirus.


Two persons each from Tila and Tatopani Rural Municipalities, on each from Sinja, Patarasi and Kanakasundari Rural Municipalities were also diagnosed with COVID-19. An employee at PACE Nepal and another staffer affiliated to the District Agriculture Officer, Jumla, also tested positive for the virus.


"With this latest figure, the number of active cases of coronavirus in Jumla has climbed to 87," Director Rawal said.


As of today, 141 persons who earlier tested positive for the virus have been discharged after full recovery in the district, according to Rawal.
